The Master of Engineering (ME) in Civil Engineering is a professional, non-thesis program focused on delivering advanced technical training for engineering practice. This curriculum offers specialized coursework in structural, environmental, geotechnical, and water resources engineering disciplines.
To earn the degree, ME candidates must complete 30 credit hours of graduate coursework, with a minimum of 18 credits taken within the School of Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering. At least 15 credits must be 500-level courses completed at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. All students must enroll in CE 593 Civil Engineering Project or an alternative 500-level Civil Engineering course. With approval from the School Director, participants may supplement their studies with graduate courses from other engineering fields or related disciplines like physics, geology, chemistry, mathematics, life sciences, business administration, or computer science.
