Cornell provides four advanced degree options in Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR): the MILR (Master of Industrial and Labor Relations), MS and PhD degrees, along with the MPS (Master of Professional Studies). The MPS encompasses both the EMHRM (Executive Master of Human Resource Management) and the MPS Ithaca program. The MS ILR - Labor Research and Policy is a two-year master's program designed to equip students for professional roles in domestic and international labor sectors, policy-making, and non-governmental organizations. Participants in the MS program collaborate extensively with ILR faculty to hone research capabilities essential for addressing contemporary workplace challenges. This specialized Labor Research and Policy track within the ILR School's MS curriculum caters to students seeking expertise in labor studies and policy evaluation. The concentration develops career-ready skills through targeted coursework, suggested internships, and thesis work, focusing on key areas such as Labor and Employment Policy Analysis, Union Research, Strategic Initiatives and Collective Movements, as well as International Labor Standards Assessment and Compliance. Graduates earn a standalone master's degree, which operates independently from Cornell's ILR MS/PhD pathway.
