The program aims to give students comprehensive knowledge of ecological and evolutionary concepts and research methods (mainly through seminars and structured coursework), along with specialized focus in specific areas (typically directed by the student's Special Committee). Each student's curriculum is customized to their individual goals. Top-tier laboratory facilities, nearby field sites, extensive collections, and library resources are accessible. Mandatory teaching experience is required, with all students serving as teaching assistants for a minimum of two semesters. The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Graduate Program offers exceptional opportunities to investigate biological diversity—its origins, preservation, and impacts. Student research explores core questions in both theoretical and applied sciences, operating across various scales while employing diverse methodologies including experimental, observational, theoretical, statistical, molecular, and chemical techniques. Certain participants concentrate on Discipline-Based Education Research to advance STEM teaching through data-driven insights and practices.
Students are accepted from a range of undergraduate majors from the natural sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and humanities.
