Along with focusing on a primary subject in Plant Biology, students can select two additional minor subjects, which may be within or outside this discipline. The program does not mandate language proficiency. Those interested in plant ecology as a major are advised to apply via the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program. The department offers specialized resources and support for all faculty-led research initiatives. Modern molecular and biochemical tools, advanced microscopy (both light and electron), biological spectrometry, and computational resources are accessible. Facilities include growth chambers, cell culture labs, transformation setups, greenhouses, and experimental field plots. The Wiegand Herbarium, located next to the Plant Science Building, contains one of the country's most significant collections for systematic research.
