The Cornell University Biomedical and Biological Sciences (BBS) Graduate Program is a cross-disciplinary initiative that brings together exceptional graduate students working on cutting-edge research across fundamental, clinical, and applied life sciences alongside distinguished faculty mentors and research experts. Based in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell's Ithaca campus, the BBS program benefits from top-tier research infrastructure, the dynamic undergraduate environment, and close connections with Weill Cornell Medical College in NYC. The program cultivates a supportive, student-focused academic community dedicated to helping graduate students excel in research, education, and career growth. BBS students choose faculty advisors from five specialized tracks: Immunology and Infectious Disease, Molecular and Cellular Medicine, Population Medicine and Epidemiology, Translational Medicine, and Zoology and Wildlife Conservation.
The Zoology and Wildlife Conservation concentration combines animal biology with conservation science, offering research opportunities in comparative anatomy, developmental biology, and embryology. Addressing the preservation of vulnerable species demands creative, comprehensive strategies, and our faculty lead these pioneering efforts—focusing conservation research on individual organisms, species populations, and entire ecosystems.
