The Cornell University Biomedical and Biological Sciences (BBS) Graduate Program brings together exceptional students working on cutting-edge research across fundamental, clinical, and applied life sciences alongside distinguished faculty and research experts. Based in Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine on the Ithaca campus, the BBS program benefits from top-tier research infrastructure, the dynamic Cornell undergraduate environment, and close connections with Weill Cornell Medical College in NYC. This program cultivates a supportive, student-focused academic community dedicated to helping graduate students excel in research, education, and career growth. BBS students choose faculty advisors from five specialized tracks: Immunology and Infectious Disease, Molecular and Cellular Medicine, Population Medicine and Epidemiology, Translational Medicine, and Zoology and Wildlife Conservation.
Population Medicine and Epidemiology focuses on investigating health patterns and disease causes within populations. This discipline aims to control disease transmission and prevent future outbreaks, serving as a foundation for public health initiatives, agricultural medicine, and preventive healthcare strategies.
