As a science and technology studies major, you will examine the societal and cultural dimensions of science and technology, learning to pose insightful questions about the social influences shaping these fields, the boundaries of scientific authority, and technology's role in contemporary life. This program seeks to deepen students' comprehension of the social and cultural significance of science and technology. It is well-suited for those aiming for careers in law, public policy, or management, as well as for scientists, engineers, and others with an interest in the interplay between science, technology, and society. Upon graduation, Science and Technology Studies majors should be capable of: Identifying, explaining, and applying core concepts and methods from the field, analyzing and assessing the social, cultural, and political aspects of scientific, technological, and medical knowledge in both historical and modern settings, critically evaluating technical, scientific, engineering, and medical information, recognizing and examining how issues in these areas are presented in public and professional discussions, and gaining expertise in natural sciences or engineering (including computer science) beyond the College of Arts and Sciences' science requirement.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
TOEFL - Score of 100 and above (Internet-based exam); 70 and above on the PTE Academic; IELTS - Score of 7.5.
