The Bachelor of Science in Information Science (IS) enables students to explore how digital information is designed, structured, managed, utilized, and examined. This program, offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), grants a BS degree in Information Science. The IS curriculum focuses on developing and implementing information systems within societal frameworks, investigating how digital data is generated, formatted, organized, applied, and evaluated. Information Science emphasizes technological systems and their applications, employing diverse interdisciplinary methods. Additionally, the department provides a distinct Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Systems, and Technology (ISST) for Engineering students (BS-ISST), which varies significantly from the A&S and CALS Information Science offerings.
This specialization equips students with comprehensive knowledge of design processes that result in effective, engaging user experiences with technology. The program emphasizes practical, design-focused education while considering the broader societal implications of technological design.
