The Bachelor of Science in Information Science (IS) enables students to explore how digital information is designed, structured, managed, utilized, and examined. This program, offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), focuses on understanding information systems within societal frameworks. Students investigate how digital data is generated, formatted, organized, implemented, and evaluated. Information Science emphasizes technological systems and their applications, employing diverse interdisciplinary methods. Additionally, the department provides a distinct Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Systems, and Technology (ISST) for Engineering students, which varies significantly from the Arts & Sciences and CALS Information Science curricula.
This specialization examines computing as a cultural force, preparing students to assess technology's societal impact, trace its historical development, and create digital media projects.
