The Bachelor of Science in Information Science (IS) enables students to explore how digital information is designed, structured, managed, implemented, and examined. This program, leading to a BS degree, is housed within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). The IS curriculum focuses on understanding information systems within societal frameworks, investigating how digital data is generated, formatted, organized, utilized, and evaluated. Information Science emphasizes technology systems and their applications, employing diverse interdisciplinary methods. Additionally, the department provides a Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Systems, and Technology (ISST) for Engineering students (BS-ISST), which significantly differs from the Information Science programs in Arts & Sciences and CALS.
This specialization equips students with comprehensive knowledge about the psychological and societal dimensions of engaging with information technology. The coursework examines multiple facets of technology's influence on human conduct and social dynamics, as well as how these factors shape technological development.
