Every student in the ILR program shares the same academic focus: Industrial and Labor Relations. This specialized major examines workplace dynamics, policies, and human interactions. Our adaptable, multidisciplinary curriculum addresses significant societal challenges impacting businesses, economic systems, and global relations. Courses across our five academic divisions investigate essential organizational subjects, including leadership development, collaborative dynamics, conflict resolution, worldwide economic trends, technological workplace transformations, and international labor standards. The ILR curriculum begins with core courses in legal studies, business administration, historical perspectives, workplace psychology, economic theory, and data analysis. Students subsequently personalize their education by selecting complementary courses from ILR and other Cornell colleges to align with their professional aspirations or scholarly pursuits.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
