Students selecting the Marine Biology Concentration will study the biology, evolution, and ecology of marine organisms and the ecological relationships between them. This field integrates knowledge from various areas such as organismal biology, marine microbiology, ocean biogeochemistry, and biological oceanography. These disciplines examine how marine species adapt to their surroundings, interact with each other, and influence their environment. Marine ecosystems serve as important indicators of human-induced changes and historical climate shifts. Graduates with this concentration can pursue diverse career paths including: advanced studies in marine biology, fisheries, or oceanography for roles in academia, museums, aquariums, and government organizations, as well as opportunities in aquaculture, marine resource management, pharmaceutical research, environmental law, and veterinary medicine.
