Students have the option to earn either a Bachelor of Arts in Information Science from the College of Arts & Sciences (BA-IS) or a Bachelor of Science in Information Science from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) (BS-IS). These two degree paths share many similarities, with the main differences lying in their respective college-level requirements. The BA in Information Science (IS) enables students to explore how information systems are designed and utilized within societal frameworks. This discipline examines how digital information is generated, represented, structured, applied, and evaluated. Information Science emphasizes technological systems and their applications, adopting an interdisciplinary perspective with diverse methodologies.
This program offers education and understanding about the ethical, legal, and policy aspects of modern information technology. Drawing from current research and discussions in law, policy, and social sciences, Ethics, Law and Policy (ELP) students gain knowledge about crucial processes and organizations that influence the tech environment, as well as how these entities are evolving to adapt to new technologies and approaches.
