Students have the option to earn either a Bachelor of Arts in Information Science from the College of Arts & Sciences (BA-IS) or a Bachelor of Science in Information Science from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) (BS-IS). These two programs share many similarities, with the key differences lying in their respective college-level requirements. The BA in Information Science (IS) enables students to examine how information systems are designed and utilized within societal frameworks. This discipline investigates how digital information is generated, represented, structured, applied, and evaluated. Information Science emphasizes technological systems and their applications, adopting an interdisciplinary perspective with diverse methodological approaches.
This program of study investigates computing as a cultural force. It prepares students to assess technology's societal and cultural impacts, comprehend its historical development, and create digital media projects.
