Students have the option to earn either a Bachelor of Arts in Information Science from the College of Arts & Sciences (BA-IS) or a Bachelor of Science in Information Science from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) (BS-IS). These two degree paths share many similarities, with the key differences lying in their respective college-level requirements. The BA in Information Science (IS) enables students to explore information system design and application within societal contexts. This discipline examines how digital information is generated, structured, managed, implemented, and evaluated. Information Science emphasizes technological systems and their utilization, employing diverse interdisciplinary methods.
This program equips students with comprehensive knowledge about the behavioral and social dimensions of engaging with information technology. The curriculum explores multiple facets of technology's influence on human behavior and social dynamics, as well as how these factors shape technological development.
