As a history student, you'll benefit from the department's specialized expertise in various historical periods and regions, including ancient, medieval, and modern European history, along with American, Latin American, and Asian studies, plus a distinctive history of science curriculum. Beyond comprehensive introductory and upper-level courses that develop critical analysis, organizational excellence, and writing proficiency, you can pursue independent research projects for academic credit. The department offers an extensive selection of both foundational and specialized courses, with particular depth in European history across all eras, as well as American, African, Latin American, Caribbean, and Asian histories, alongside its distinguished science history program.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
TOEFL - Score of 100 and above (Internet-based exam); 70 and above on the PTE Academic; IELTS - Score of 7.5.
