As an anthropology student, you'll examine the intricate social and cultural connections that shape human societies while mastering engaged, collaborative field research methods. Your studies may cover diverse subjects from identity politics and global interconnectedness to agricultural beginnings and imperial expansions. Your research could lead you to various locations - from Mesoamerican rainforests to Himalayan peaks, from Latin American correctional facilities to New York's historic Lower East Side synagogues, or from Tanzanian medical facilities to New York's colonial-era Finger Lakes region. Cornell University's Anthropology Department ranks among the premier institutions for exploring humanity and our environment across time, from ancient history to emerging futures. Our undergraduate programs prepare students for global citizenship and harmonious living, while our graduate programs develop advanced research skills combining fieldwork with social and cultural theory traditions.
