The Associate in Arts in Music for Transfer (AA-T) program creates a seamless transfer route for students aiming to pursue a bachelor's degree in general music at a California State University (CSU). By earning the AA-T in music, students gain fundamental knowledge and competencies that form the basis of most four-year music programs' initial curriculum. This degree aligns with the college's mission and strategic objectives.
The music AA-T offers students the essential lower-division coursework needed to transfer into the CSU system with junior status. While this guarantees CSU admission, it doesn't ensure acceptance into particular majors or campuses. Admission to university music programs and future music careers depends on auditioned performance skills. The curriculum also equips students with musical training for diverse career paths including performance (classical, jazz, or commercial), composition, film scoring, songwriting, teaching, conducting, music therapy, vocal coaching, music history, event production, and accompaniment.
