The Classical Studies (CLST) graduate program is an interdisciplinary initiative focused on the comprehensive examination of Greece, Rome, and the broader ancient Mediterranean and Near East. Collaborating departments span Art History and Archaeology, Classics, History, and Philosophy. Rooted in traditional disciplines like history, art history, archaeology, philosophy, and literature, the program also invites students to pursue specialized interests with faculty in religion, classical reception, and ancient intellectual traditions. This flexible, cross-disciplinary approach equips graduates to teach and secure academic roles across various departments. Doctoral candidates craft dissertations enriched by diverse scholarly perspectives and dedicated faculty guidance. The PhD program grants fellowships based on academic excellence and future potential, incorporating teaching and research components as vital elements of professional development.
