The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences provides diverse graduate programs focusing on cancer biology, oncology, occupational and environmental health (including industrial hygiene and ergonomics), health physics, radiation sciences (covering radiobiology, radioecology, and radiochemistry), epidemiology, and toxicology.
PhD candidates are required to develop comprehensive expertise in their chosen specialization and related fields. They must prove to their Graduate Advisory Committee that they've mastered the necessary knowledge, skills, and capabilities for their specific discipline. Additionally, students need to show proficiency in complementary scientific areas to prepare for careers in research, academia, regulatory affairs, and other professional environments. The PhD curriculum requires completing at least 72 semester credits, with the option to transfer up to 30 credits from an accredited master's degree program.
