The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences provides diverse graduate programs covering cancer biology, oncology, workplace and environmental safety (including industrial hygiene and ergonomics), health physics, radiation sciences (such as radiobiology, radioecology, and radiochemistry), epidemiology, and toxicology.
This department hosts one of the country's most extensive environmental health programs, uniquely integrating radiological health into its fundamental coursework. Environmental health scholars examine how both natural and human-made surroundings impact human and animal wellbeing, while developing strategies to reduce harmful effects from environmental and occupational hazards. CSU's radiological health program has a distinguished history, concentrating on radiation's biological impacts - from laboratory research on radiation damage to medical applications in imaging and cancer treatment.
The radiological health Ph.D. program emphasizes cancer studies, exploring radiation's involvement in causing, detecting, and combating cancer.
