The Biomedical Engineering Bachelor of Science program at Colorado State University holds accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Initial accreditation was granted in 2016, applying retroactively to all previous graduates of the biomedical engineering B.S. program. Partner programs—electrical engineering (EE), chemical and biological engineering (CBE), and mechanical engineering (MECH)—are accredited by ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission.
The biomedical engineering program's educational goals aim to equip students to:
uphold strong professional, social, and ethical principles while evaluating and tackling technology's worldwide effects to enhance societal and environmental well-being
employ comprehensive knowledge, hands-on experience, and innovative thinking to resolve challenges at the intersection of engineering and life sciences, both independently and collaboratively
leverage their interdisciplinary training to promote communication and cooperation across professional and specialty divides
acknowledge and broaden their expertise, pursue continuous self-education, and discover and generate career prospects for themselves and peers
