The Bachelor of Music with a Performance Concentration in Voice is a specialized program designed to foster vocal, artistic, and personal development. Students benefit from a supportive yet rigorous studio setting under the guidance of dedicated voice faculty. By prioritizing skill-building over immediate results, the program helps students establish strong vocal foundations to express their unique artistry.
Voice students receive instruction from accomplished faculty members with extensive teaching experience. Freshman voice majors begin with a seminar to ease their transition to college-level study, followed by rotating lessons with different instructors during their first semester. Starting in their second semester, students work exclusively with one teacher for the duration of their degree, ensuring consistent mentorship throughout their CSU education.
Performance opportunities abound, allowing students to showcase their talents as soloists or ensemble members in choirs, opera, musical theater, and chamber music. Each semester culminates in a jury evaluation, and students regularly participate in departmental recitals and voice area performances.
