The Department of Applied Science is a multidisciplinary graduate program primarily centered on doctoral studies, while also providing select Master of Science degree options. These programs allow for tailored specializations across various physical and natural science disciplines. Students collaborate with faculty advisors to design personalized academic paths aligned with their career aspirations. The department attracts graduate candidates from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. New students engage in coursework, faculty mentorship, peer collaboration, and seminar participation as part of their foundational experience. Each scholar's course plan is customized in consultation with their faculty advisory team. The Ph.D. program provides full financial support, including a $31,000 annual Research Assistantship along with tuition coverage and health benefits.
Degree candidates must fulfill an approved course curriculum established by the Applied Science faculty. Completion requirements include either: 1) 30 graduate credit hours plus an original thesis defended before an advisory committee, or 2) 32 graduate credits incorporating Applied Science 710 Research Project.
