Our program primarily focuses on the M.S. degree. Students may only switch to the M.A. track in exceptional cases and with approval from the graduate committee. Admission to the M.A. program is extremely uncommon. For inquiries, please reach out to the Graduate Director.
M.A. candidates qualify for assistantships and can receive support for four consecutive semesters, provided they maintain satisfactory academic progress. Summer funding is not available for these students.
To earn an M.A., students must complete 32 graduate-level credit hours and pass a Qualifying Examination. With Graduate Committee authorization, M.A. candidates may enroll in a restricted number of courses outside their department, capped at 12 semester hours.
Non-thesis students select a faculty advisor rather than forming a thesis committee, meeting regularly for academic guidance.
