The PhD in Integrative Studies in Ethics and Theology (ISET) offers a fresh approach to engaging with Christian theological heritage, addressing contemporary intellectual, social, and moral dilemmas facing our world today. Through their academic work, students explore the dynamic relationship between Christian theology and ethics, examining how these disciplines influence and enrich each other.
A core component of the program is the ISET doctoral seminar, required for all students across both focus areas during each Spring term of their coursework. Centered on rotating thematic topics, this course delves into major thinkers' comprehensive works while highlighting the interplay between ethical and theological dimensions in their ideas. Past themes have covered subjects like Tragedy and Ambiguity, Theological Anthropology in Consumer Culture, and Concepts of Responsibility. The seminar's interdisciplinary nature fosters vibrant dialogue among ISET scholars, as participants contribute diverse perspectives and interpretations to the shared readings.
