Kinesiology students explore human health and physical activity from diverse perspectives. The field of kinesiology (the science of movement) equips you for numerous academic paths and career opportunities in healthcare fields (including physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant roles, nursing, medicine, public health, and nutrition) as well as fitness sectors (such as exercise physiology, senior wellness, sports science, and health promotion). Faculty members in kinesiology make an effort to connect with students personally and foster substantive dialogue.
For those considering a Kinesiology major, we provide two degree paths with three specialized concentrations:
The Bachelor of Science degree offers a challenging science-focused program. Students pursuing the B.S. often aim for healthcare careers or advanced studies in health sciences. You can optionally specialize in one of these areas:
Allied Health: ideal for aspiring professionals in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant roles, Nursing, or similar healthcare fields. (Consult Advising for specifics)
Public Health: prepares students for advanced study or careers in public or global health initiatives.
Human Nutrition: tailored for those seeking graduate education in nutrition/dietetics or direct entry into nutrition-related professions.
