The Social Problems, Policy, and Justice specialization provides sociology students with comprehensive knowledge about the root causes and impacts of critical societal issues, along with diverse strategies for driving social transformation. This program's curriculum examines how societal challenges become recognized as problems, explores media influences, analyzes inequalities tied to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, and socioeconomic class, investigates urban and spatial disparities, studies human-environment interactions, and evaluates how social movements, policies, and other change mechanisms address these urgent matters. Combined with the program's intensive theoretical and methodological training, this specialization readies graduates for careers in education, media, corporate sectors, advocacy work, activism, and policy development.
