The film & media studies program offers an interdisciplinary, worldwide viewpoint. You'll examine how cinema and media influence and reflect cultures, communities, historical narratives, and both group and individual identities. Foundational courses push you to analyze media as both artistic expression and cultural phenomenon from critical, innovative, and international perspectives, while hands-on production courses immerse you in video creation.
As a cross-disciplinary initiative, we investigate how film and media portray and transform cultures, social structures, historical accounts, and personal/collective identities. Our essential curriculum encourages analytical, imaginative, and worldwide thinking about media's role as artistic and social expression. Production courses provide direct experience in video making. Beyond the classroom, you can enhance your learning through internships, workshops, volunteering, or participating in the yearly Ampersand International Arts Festival (previously known as the Global Film Festival).
Our alumni thrive across diverse media sectors, including scriptwriting, news reporting, filmmaking, and advertising. Some enter fields like teaching, legal practice, and commerce. Every graduate emerges equipped to engage meaningfully in our modern world.
We provide both major and minor undergraduate programs. The majority of our classes welcome students from all disciplines, as we believe media literacy benefits everyone.
