The English Department fosters comprehension and admiration for how individuals have depicted their realities, whether factual or fictional, through literary works. As an active collective of educator-scholars, we dedicate ourselves to immersing students in the vast spectrum of English literary forms—from poetry and plays to prose fiction—spanning both classical traditions and unconventional, boundary-pushing creations. Our multifaceted curriculum invites learners to examine literature through aesthetic, historical, philosophical, and sociocultural lenses, revealing the transformative potential of written artistry. Produced by student writers each semester, our publication Inside Tucker Hall captures campus life. The current edition features personal accounts documenting the unprecedented conclusion to spring 2020, chronicling the campus community's adaptation to remote learning.
