Africana Studies extends beyond racial topics, encompassing the rich history, cultural heritage, political systems, and economic landscapes of Africa's diverse nations. It explores how African communities have adapted across North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East, South Asia, and Western Europe.
Through this discipline, students cultivate critical interdisciplinary thinking and develop cultural sensitivity. The program prepares graduates for lifelong education and professional paths in numerous sectors.
Both a major and minor are available in Africana Studies, with numerous courses accessible to students outside the program. William & Mary community members are warmly invited to participate in our sponsored events throughout the year.
