Ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that employs high-frequency sound waves to visualize internal organs, blood vessels, heart structures, and fetal development during pregnancy. This imaging method can reveal abnormalities such as tumors, fluid collections, and other medical conditions. All ultrasound examinations are conducted under a licensed physician's oversight. Students who choose this specialization train for careers in adult/pediatric heart imaging and vascular ultrasound. Graduates qualify to take the national certification exams for Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, earning the RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) credential upon successful completion.
This program has competitive enrollment. Certain prerequisite courses must be finished before applicants can be considered for admission. Prospective students must attend a Health Programs orientation session and consult with a Health Programs advisor for guidance.
