The civil engineering graduate program equips students with expertise in cutting-edge analytical, design, research, and development methodologies. Candidates must choose from these specialization tracks: Structures/Foundations, Water Resources Engineering, Transportation, or Environmental Engineering. Both full-time and part-time study options are available. Thesis or project research opportunities align with faculty expertise, spanning diverse fields such as structural systems, material science, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic systems, transportation infrastructure, and construction technologies.
Alumni with an MS in Civil Engineering pursue careers as consulting project engineers, government research scientists, industrial analysts and designers, and public works administrators. Our graduates hold positions including structural specialists, materials researchers, and mechanical stress experts. The employment outlook for civil engineering professionals with advanced qualifications remains exceptionally strong.
If you have successfully completed a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree in the United States, you are considered to be a graduate student at CSU.
Meet minimum test score requirements:
TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based): 78 and at least 17 in each section
TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based): 550
IELTS: 6.0 and at least 5.0 in each section

PTE (Pearsons Test of English): 50
