The Middle Childhood Education program centers on understanding and addressing the unique requirements of young adolescents, specifically concerning the creation, implementation, and assessment of culturally appropriate and developmentally suitable teaching methods. Reflective practice and inquiry support the development of progressive knowledge and abilities. This program features an enhanced curriculum with over 700 hours of hands-on clinical training—comparable to the training models in law and medicine. This thorough preparation increases graduates' employability prospects. At the undergraduate level, the Middle Childhood Education Program equips future educators to teach students in grades 4 through 9 (ages 8 to 14).
Graduates of middle childhood education programs have diverse career options. With a bachelor's degree, some pursue teaching certification, unlocking opportunities in public and private schools across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Others opt to further their studies, conducting research in middle childhood education to tackle key challenges in the field. Following three to four years of research, students present their thesis for faculty approval and publicly defend their work. Successful candidates earn a PhD or Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, leading to academic and research positions at universities and institutions worldwide. Career paths for graduates include: Elementary School Teacher, Middle School Teacher, High School Teacher, Childcare Center Director, Teacher's Assistant, Home-Based Service Provider, Instructional Coordinator, Librarian, Sales Representative, Consultant, Researcher, Writer or Editor, Professor, and Museum Educator.
