Criminology examines criminal behavior and its various elements. Criminologists focus on understanding the motivations behind crimes, how certain actions become classified as illegal while others don't, and the variations in punishments across different eras, regions, and individuals. The field also covers the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, judicial processes, and rehabilitation systems, and their societal roles. Students in criminology acquire valuable expertise such as understanding criminal motivations, interacting with both offenders and victims, applying theoretical frameworks to real-world issues, and assessing crime prevention strategies. The curriculum fosters abilities in effective communication, analytical reasoning, statistical analysis, clear writing, and information assessment. Additionally, students develop competencies in research methodologies and data interpretation.
