By enrolling in Clark University's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, you'll become part of a dedicated community of students, faculty, and mentor teachers who share a passion for advancing social equity through education. What distinguishes our program is its strong focus on transformative teaching methods and deep collaboration with urban schools. We hold the distinction of being Massachusetts' first teacher preparation program to receive exemplary approval status from the state's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
This rigorous one-year graduate program launches each May on Clark's campus before transitioning in August to full-time placements within Worcester Public Schools. You'll spend the remainder of the academic year at one of five partner schools, gaining the practical experience and building the essential connections that form the foundation of successful urban teaching.
Our carefully designed field placements create unparalleled opportunities to collaborate with experienced educators, university mentors, and diverse student populations. Upon graduation, you'll earn both your master's degree and teaching certification, preparing you to join our network of alumni who are reshaping urban education.
Experience teaching at our five urban partner institutions, including the nationally acclaimed University Park Campus School, while learning from mentor teachers - many of whom are program graduates.
