The American Studies program offers an interdisciplinary exploration of U.S. culture, society, and national identity, examining these themes through historical, literary, and theoretical perspectives. This unique multidisciplinary framework at CGU allows students to investigate the development of American civilization while enhancing their humanities education. Open to students enrolled in Applied Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, English, History, and Religion programs, this formal concentration appears on transcripts alongside the primary degree as supplementary certification. Participants collaborate with faculty mentors to design a cohesive academic path, incorporating departmental seminars and cross-listed courses from other CGU departments and Claremont Colleges institutions. The curriculum requires at least four seminars within the student's primary department plus two from complementary disciplines.
