The Master of Arts in Education with a California Teaching Credential in General Education combines academic theory with hands-on application through a paid internship featuring mentor-supported classroom experience, cultivating educators who create meaningful change. Effective teaching requires grounding school practice in scholarly research while university discourse benefits from authentic classroom insights. We maintain that exceptional teacher preparation stems from immersive field experience. Our program's internship offers compensated, mentor-led teaching practice in K12 environments, with every course and task structured to build the competencies, approaches, and mindsets necessary to break patterns of educational disadvantage. You'll engage with both scholarly concepts and practical applications while receiving guidance from experienced K12 educators - many of whom have paused their school careers to pursue doctoral studies in our School of Educational Studies or contribute to research initiatives.
