The Early Modern Studies program offers an interdisciplinary exploration of history, literature, religion, and philosophy during the transformative era bridging medieval and modern civilizations, characterized by key developments like the printing revolution, religious conflicts, and the emergence of nation-states. This concentration examines what scholars variously term the Early Modern period, Renaissance, Reformation, or Tudor-Stuart Britain (with some theological studies extending to Europe). Available to students across English, history, religion, and cultural studies programs within Claremont Graduate University's School of Arts and Humanities, this specialized track enhances master's candidates' preparation for doctoral programs in early modern, Renaissance, or Reformation studies while also providing valuable training for careers in archival, museum, and collection management fields.
