The Bachelor of Science in Biology provides undergraduates with a comprehensive curriculum covering diverse aspects of biological sciences and related disciplines. This flexible program equips students for direct entry into biology-related professions or advanced graduate studies.
Students must work with their assigned biology faculty advisor to develop and gain approval for their BS program and elective selections, submitting these plans to the biological sciences department at least two quarters before graduation. The BS biology degree requires completion of all core requirements along with additional specialized coursework. Students must also select a designated number of upper-division courses from various categories. The major allows up to 15 credits from BIOL 295, BIOL 490, BIOL 495, and BIOL 496. Note that introductory biology courses and classes designed for non-majors cannot count toward Biology BS, BA, or minor requirements. Consult course descriptions for specifics, and ensure all elective choices receive departmental approval.
