Enhance your passion for teaching and music through this fully accredited graduate program in music education. You'll develop your personal teaching philosophy and methods by studying music theory, history, research, and pedagogy. Collaborate with a graduate coordinator to tailor your coursework to align with your educational aspirations.
Additionally, you may specialize in music conducting, composition, or performance based on your interests. Conduct educational research under the guidance of experienced music educators, presenting your findings at public forums and submitting work to conferences at state, regional, and national levels.
A limited number of graduate assistantships are available, offering tuition waivers for up to 20 credit hours and a $10,300 stipend. Recipients may teach introductory courses or assist with large ensemble direction—valuable experience for those aiming to teach at the collegiate level.
Our graduates have secured numerous K-12 teaching positions across Michigan and nationwide. Some have earned prestigious honors like the Grammy Music Educator of the Year award, while others have entered elite doctoral programs or obtained tenure-track academic positions. Many are in demand as clinicians and adjudicators for regional, national, and international events.
