This PhD program offers in-depth exploration of environmental patterns and processes through time and across different regions. You'll examine climate dynamics, aquatic ecosystems, and terrestrial systems in varied geographical areas. These environments may range from contemporary to prehistoric, untouched to human-impacted.

Our earth sciences program utilizes a holistic systems perspective for research. Working alongside our seasoned faculty, you'll assess the physical, chemical, geological, and biological characteristics of both natural and human-modified environments. With advisors typically mentoring just one or two students, you'll benefit from personalized guidance, enhanced training opportunities, and concentrated research attention.
