As a student in design and technology here, you'll enjoy exceptional hands-on learning opportunities. Our program stages approximately 25 productions annually, featuring both mainstage shows and studio works. Whatever your focus—be it costumes, scenic design, lighting, or stage management—you'll discover numerous avenues to develop your craft and acquire practical experience.

Outside regular coursework, our summer touring theater initiative lets you participate in traveling repertory productions—gaining both compensation and academic credit. Numerous students additionally participate in national competitions or secure internships with theater organizations nationwide.

Qualification Requirements

High school graduate: If you are currently in high school, we just need to see your 9-11 (or equivalent) grade transcripts for an admission decision. However, you must graduate from an approved high school (or equivalent) prior to starting classes at CMU.
To ensure your success at CMU, you must provide proof of proficiency in English
Submit official transcripts from your high school. If you have college credits, also submit transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended.
TOEFL: 550 PBT/79 IBT for regular admission.
IELTS: 6.5 for regular admission.
General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or General Certificate of Education (GSE): A score of A or B on the English Language Exam.
SAT: Evidence-based Reading and Writing (EBRW) score of 520.
ACT: English score of 21.
ELS Language Center Program: Completion of Level 112 for regular admission.
International Baccalaureate (IB): A grade of 5 in English at the Higher Level is required for regular admission.
