The joint MFA Professional Actor Training Program offered by Cleveland Play House and Case Western Reserve University is a three-year intensive course based at the Play House facilities. This selective program aims to develop versatile theater performers who can excel in both modern and classical productions, equipping them with both practical techniques and artistic vision for thriving in professional theater.
During the three-year curriculum, instructors in acting, voice, speech, and movement collaborate closely to evaluate each student's development, blending these disciplines to enhance adaptability, expressive capability, and performance versatility. The program focuses on cultivating technical proficiency, professional discipline, and artistic craftsmanship to shape well-rounded performers ready to meet diverse industry challenges. This training occurs within a unique setting that combines the academic heritage of one of America's oldest theater education programs (Case Western Reserve University) with the professional legacy of the country's first regional theater company (Cleveland Play House).
