The DMA in Historical Performance Practice seeks candidates poised to become pioneers in early music. Applicants must exhibit outstanding academic promise in music history and performance techniques, along with exceptional performance abilities. Admission involves an audition, interview, and placement exams in music history and theory upon enrollment.
Tailored to individual goals, our program begins with a diagnostic assessment and requires approval from the Historical Performance Practice director. Degree requirements include 33 academic credits, 18 applied music credits, fluency in two pertinent languages, plus successful completion of a jury examination, lecture-recital, and final recital within the first three years.
