The Women's and Gender Studies program takes an interdisciplinary approach, equipping students to analyze issues through the lens of gender. This curriculum explores topics relevant to women while also addressing broader gender-related subjects across different cultures and historical periods. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree through this program, which combines focused disciplinary study with interdisciplinary perspectives. The program allows up to six credit hours from another major to count toward Women's and Gender Studies requirements. Through two core courses, students master contemporary research methods and analytical frameworks used in the field. The program's mission is to teach students how to apply feminist and queer theories to understand gender, sexuality, culture, and society. It emphasizes scholarship concerning women, LGBTQ+ communities, and sexual identity studies.
