The Ethnic Studies Bachelor of Arts program examines the histories, cultures, experiences, and challenges of racial-ethnic communities in the U.S. This degree program concentrates on analyzing race and racism from social and historical perspectives within American society, while investigating systemic power dynamics stemming from institutional, cultural, and global racial constructs. Students in this major develop comprehensive knowledge through three thematic concentrations, exploring diverse concerns that intersect multiple racial/ethnic populations. This approach provides students with perspectives on how these matters manifest both comparably and distinctly within and between different communities. Furthermore, students deepen their knowledge of a particular historically underrepresented U.S. group or thematic focus by concentrating their elective coursework in a chosen specialization.
