The American Indian Studies Major offers an in-depth academic exploration, fostering intellectual involvement and location-specific comprehension of Indigenous knowledge systems. This encompasses the development of tribal self-governance, as well as the unique cultures and identities of Native nations, communities, and individuals as separate political and cultural entities across the Americas. Learners will acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical experience engaging with Native American populations. Participants will develop a nuanced grasp of the special legal and political standing of Indigenous peoples.
Upon completion, alumni will be equipped to collaborate with this politically unique demographic across diverse sectors including medical services, schooling, commerce, charitable institutions, and public administration. The program's culminating courses present a challenging opportunity for scholars to showcase their practical understanding through hands-on learning and civic participation.
