The Social Sciences and Globalization MA Program at CSUSB aims to give students an overview of key concepts examined by social scientists, focusing particularly on how globalization affects both national and international spheres. Though the curriculum covers a wide range of social science disciplines, it prioritizes History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, and Geography. This program is particularly well-suited for individuals aiming to enter or advance in social science teaching at secondary schools or community colleges. Professionals in other educational or social science-related fields may also find value in this program.
Students complete foundational courses that analyze globalization through the perspectives of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology. They also choose one of three specialized tracks to deepen their expertise in globalization-related topics: the Disciplinary Concentration, the Thematic Concentration, or the Applied Social Science Concentration.
