The Transformational Leadership Doctoral Program is a prestigious Ed.D. initiative jointly developed by the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Program in the College of Education and the Department of Public Policy and Administration in the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies. This innovative program bridges academic concepts with real-world application to drive meaningful change in education systems.
Our curriculum specifically equips future administrators with the essential competencies required for leadership roles in California's public K-12 schools and community colleges.
Designed for working professionals, our cohort model features Friday evening and Saturday classes. Students enter the program together and progress through coursework as a unit, creating multiple benefits that are deliberately cultivated throughout the program:
Learning cohorts provide mutual support and facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.
These groups often develop lasting professional connections that extend beyond graduation, offering ongoing career development opportunities.
The cohort structure strengthens student progress tracking, with collective expectations helping candidates achieve key milestones including qualifying exams, candidacy advancement, and dissertation completion.
